don't make me guess,
don't weigh me down with burdens uncertain,
just tell me
i'll listen, i'll understand, i'll change
but tell me.
i never meant hurt you
are you sneering now?

he who responded:
would it be asking much to see you again?
would the headphones still be hanging from your neck,
your bag slung casually over one shoulder?
and if i come up to you,
and ask:
"have i seen you somewhere before?"
would you still respond with that smile of yours,
and say:
"yes, of course"?
--
i encountered a human in front of the atm yesterday
a human in a peacock blue shirt, white pants,
someone who smiled back when i did
and not the machines marching around.
--
but i can't remember your face,
will you help me?

carpe diem:
what does it mean to "seize the day?"
what exactly do you do when you make "full use" of your time?
what if i spent the day rushing from one place to another,
what if i spent the day completing three papers,
what if i spent the day lounging in the cafe,
what if i spent the day walking contently around the neighborhood?
what if all these are equally "gratifying?"
so don't tell me i'm wasting my time just wandering around,
don't tell me i'm being paranoid and nervous
preparing for a presentation two weeks from now--
people know the pace most suitable for them.
